About Bob Britton

All my life, I've loved fixing things. Businesses included.

Mechanic. Shop owner by accident. Seven figures before 30. Fifteen years helping other owners grow. Then I started a handyman business, hated every piece of software made for it, and built my own.

The short version

1The kid. Took everything apart to see how it worked. Fixed what was broken, or tried to.

2The mechanic. Landed in a failing auto repair shop. Had to learn to fix the cars AND the business.

3The owner. Built it into a seven-figure business before I turned 30.

4The consultant. Helped hundreds of owners grow from one-man shows to multimillion-dollar operations. 2010 Infusionsoft Ultimate Marketer.

5The handyman. Started Bespoke Home Solutions for a new challenge. Found the software was garbage. Built BGS.

I fell into a failing shop and had to fix two things at once.

I was the kid who took things apart to see how they were built. If it was broken, I wanted to fix it. That curiosity put me under cars, and then it put me in an auto repair business that was going under.

So I had to learn two trades at the same time: how to fix cars, and how to fix a business. The second one turned out to be the one I was really wired for. I treated the business like a broken machine. Find the problem, make a plan, do the ugly work, check that it held. That shop became a seven-figure business before I was 30.

Then other owners started asking how.

Teaching other shop owners how to fix their businesses, hire, manage people and grow turned into a consulting company. Over the following years I helped hundreds of business owners go from one-man shows to multimillion-dollar operations.

The common thread was technology, used simply. When online CRMs first showed up I was one of the first owners to use one, and the first I know of to wire one straight into shop management software so the business ran itself between visits. That story won the 2010 Infusionsoft Ultimate Marketer award, and the award launched the consulting business.

Along the way I got serious about marketing and the psychology of selling. Here is the whole lesson in one line: every single thing you do is either moving the sale forward or pushing it away. Every text, every voicemail, every late estimate. The small stuff is the big stuff. Technology, set up right, is how a one-truck business gets the small stuff right every time.

Then I started a handyman company and the software made me mad.

I started Bespoke Home Solutions because I wanted another challenge and another way to work with people. What I found, fast, was that the systems out there are completely inadequate for the handyman industry. Honestly, for most small contractors and most small businesses, period. Pieces everywhere. Nothing talking to anything.

So I did what I always do with something broken. I built my own. Everything a business actually needs to grow in one place: marketing, relationship management, communications, scheduling, estimates with the profit shown, invoices, the website, the phone. Because when you are a great provider, you can charge a lot more than your competition and still have raving fans and five-star reviews. The system is what lets you be that provider every day, not just on your good days.

That is the BGS. It is not a CRM, and it is not a replacement for the other things out there. It is a reimagined system built around marketing your business and never missing a thing. Website, text, call, email, it all flows into one organized place, and nothing falls through the cracks because the whole thing was designed to work together.

It is the ultimate business growth system. That is why I call it the BGS, and you would be crazy not to try it. — Bob

What I believe

Everything moves the sale forward or away.

There is no neutral. The slow callback, the sloppy estimate, the text you forgot: each one pushes the customer toward the next guy.

You fix a business the way you fix anything.

Find the damn problem. Make the plan. Embrace the suck. Make sure it holds. Then run it again.

Technology should be simple or it is useless.

If it takes a consultant to run it, it will never get run. Set it up once, correctly, and lean on it.

Great providers get to charge more.

Raving fans and five-star reviews are not luck. They are what a system produces when nothing falls through the cracks.

The framework

Powerful systems create powerful results.

This is the system. Four steps, run the same way every time, on every lead that comes through the door.

1

CreateLeads

Get the leads coming: a website that books jobs, lead capture that tracks where every customer came from, marketing that runs itself.

2

OrganizePipeline

Every inquiry, estimate, job and follow-up on ONE page. Every call, text and email under the customer it belongs to.

3

AutomateSystems

Follow-ups, reminders, review requests, invoices and payments that run themselves, the same way every time.

4

DominateYour market

Deliver the same quality at 300 leads a day as at two. Raving fans, five-star reviews, and the price you deserve.

The destination: plenty of money, and owning your time.
